Spitting Pig South West Wedding Menus

Posted in Uncategorized on September 3rd, 2010

Our Wedding menus are very flexible so whatever your budget, we have something to suit. In times gone by, people only considered a hog roast for their evening celebrations but it has now become popular to have a hog roast for your wedding breakfast. Spitting Pig South West will not only provide the main course with all the trimmings, we also offer a wide range of canapés, starters and desserts with some of the most professional service staff in Gloucestershire. So whether it’s a two course meal or the whole four courses, you be hard pushed to find a better menu. I’ll be spending the rest of the day getting back to all those people who are interested in booking us for their special day.

Christmas ideas

For Christmas We may even do a special offer on spit roasted turkeys with all the festive trimmings. Some of the canapés that will be introduced are Mini filo tartlets filled with roast turkey, chestnut stuffing & cranberries, Roast chestnut volute, Smoked salmon kebabs with zest of lemon & lime and Roasted chestnut and sausage meatballs with cranberry dip. They all sound lovely and are great instead of a starter.

Christmas party menus!!!

We’ll have a meeting this morning to discuss ideas for Christmas packages. I can’t believe it’s that time already. Hog roasts a great for Christmas parties so we’ll be brainstorming ideas for seasonal canapés, starters and desserts.

machine hire

Posted in Uncategorized on August 31st, 2010

Machine hire seems to becoming more and more popular this year. The guys are out now collecting two machines that were hired over the weekend. They are especially popular for companies who cater at festivals during the summer. To be honest it’s just as cost effective to take one of the packages we offer with the chef included. This way you can sit back and relax in the knowledge that your pig will be cooked to perfection! There is also the added bonus that you don’t need to clean the machine after use.

busy friday for hog caterers of the south west

Posted in Uncategorized on July 30th, 2010

We have an extremely busy day today. We have 4 Hog Roasts across the Country; One in Gloucester, One in Wales, One in Bristol and another in Reading. The job in Reading is a big one; they have two hog roast machines and a BBQ. Their choices were Spit Roasted Pig, Spit Roasted Beef and a selection of Beef Burgers, Thai Chicken Kebabs and Gourmet Sausages. They’ve even requested extra potatoes and 4 choices of salad. The team left very early this morning so it will be a very long day indeed. As I’m stuck in the office I may as well clear my emails. We’ve had another influx of enquiries for September – Mainly Birthday Parties I think!

updating the wedding menus and preparing for wedding season 2011

Posted in Uncategorized on July 29th, 2010

Enquiries are coming in thick and fast for next year. People planning weddings are becoming increasingly aware that we get booked up incredibly early. We already have 8 bookings for May next year so I would advise people to get in touch if they want to secure their date for 2011. After sending out some quotes it is time to work on the new menus. It’s nice to update the dishes every now and again. I particularly like the idea of a Duck Rillette for a starter and maybe a Salmon & Asparagus Terrine. We’ll have to see what the chef’s think. As soon as they’ve finished ordering supplies and all the pigs for this weekend, we’ll get onto it.

feeding the 500

Posted in Uncategorized on July 28th, 2010

We’ve got a big job on today with a very well known company.  They are holding a fun day for all their staff and we are providing a selection of spit roasted chickens, lamb and Hog. There will be more than enough to feed the 500 we are catering for, so I think I might help out for a free lunch. I’ve sent schedules to all the waiting staff for this week so I’ll finish the bookings that came in this morning and then I’ll be off. I must remember to let my manager know that July is now practically fully booked! Hundreds of people are now choosing the traditional hog roast for their weddings and not just for the evening; I’ve noticed a huge increase in people requesting them for their Wedding Breakfasts as well.

back to work

First day back at work after a week off! There is always a back log of emails when you take any time off but today I have hundreds. It’s nice to see, however, that the majority are testimonials or ‘thank you’s’ from satisfied customers. The one that stands out the most is the Ball we catered for over the weekend. It was a 3 course meal for 300 people! All those involved were extremely happy with the food and the service – that’s always nice to hear. In fact, some one phoned in and left a message requesting quotations for their wedding having been to this event and sampled the food. I’ll have to get some sample menus over to them this afternoon.

garden party

It’s always nice to update our menus especially when a particular theme seems to be so popular. It must be the great weather we’ve been having recently. What better way to celebrate your big day than an English Garden Party with a hog roast from ‘Spitting Pig’ as the centre piece.

menu ideas

I’ve got a number of bespoke menus to sort out as well; in fact, it will probably take me the day to get through them all. The English Garden Party theme seems to be quite popular. Maybe we should ask one of our head chefs to come up with a menu for the website?
